CERRO NUTIBARA

CERRO NUTIBARA
This so called “guardian” hill of Medellín, one of seven that surround the city, holds atop its 262-foot summit famous Pueblito Paisa and a spacious lookout that provides an almost uninterrupted view of the Aburrá valley. Two sculptures, one honoring Indian Chief Nutibara and the other honoring Guillermo Zuluaga Montecristo, one of Antioquia's leading humorists, are also located here within sight of Pueblito Paisa.
This 81.5-acre park can be accessed by car or on foot through a series of meandering nature trails surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. Halfway up the hill, on the north side, one can find the open-air 4000-spectator “Carlos Vieco” theater. And just below the summit, as if encircling Pueblito Paisa sits the Sculpture Park, which holds a permanent exhibit of renowned national and international artists. The Christmas lights display that goes up all over Nutibara Hill around the Holiday Season is one very popular attraction found here during December.
