UNIVERSIDAD DE ANTIOQUIA
Muchos ilustres colombianos en todas las áreas del saber se han formado en las aulas de esta bicentenaria institución, pues su fundación data de 1803. Inicialmente, el alma máter sólo funcionaba en el Edificio de San Ignacio (centro de la ciudad), pero desde 1968 tiene su sede principal en la llamada Ciudad Universitaria, donde, en medio de una rica variedad de árboles y amplias zonas verdes, sobresalen la Biblioteca Central, el Teatro Camilo Torres, la Unidad Deportiva y el Museo Universitario, este último con secciones de Antropología, Ciencias Naturales, Artes Visuales, Sala Galileo e Historia.
La Universidad de Antioquia tiene otras sedes alternas en el antiguo Edificio de San Ignacio, en el sector cercano al Hospital San Vicente de Paúl -donde funcionan las facultades de las ciencias de la salud- y en el barrio Robledo.

UNIVERSITY OF ANTIOQUIA
Many illustrious Colombians, in all fields of knowledge, have walked the halls and classrooms of this institution whose bicentennial celebration was held in 2003. Classes at the Alma Mater were originally held at the San Ignacio Building in downtown Medellín, but since 1968 its main campus has been at the present and now Architectural Heritage Site called Ciudad Universitaria, some ten minutes north of downtown Medellín. Here, amid a great variety of trees and ample grassy areas, stand the Central Library, the Camilo Torres Theatre, the Sports Complex, and the University Museum with its Sala Galileo, Anthropology, Natural Science, Visual Arts, and History galleries.
The University runs other alternate sites including one at the San Ignacio Building, another housing the health sciences colleges, in close proximity to the Saint Vincent de Paul Hospital, and yet another in the Robledo neighborhood.
